make jam

We went strawberry picking and got 60 lbs. of strawberries! Some of them we froze and the rest we used to make jam and preserves!
If you are going to use pectin, use Pomona’s pectin. That way you can use wayyyy less sugar. I think we only used 1 cup per 2 quarts and it was sweet enough.



Make yogurt
easier than i thought! 19 months ago

follow the instructions here (if you have a heating pad) or here (if you have a thermos). you do need a food thermometer in either case.

i don’t have either so i just wrapped the pot of yogurt with a lot of towels.

i feel like such a chump for all the yogurt i’ve ever bought.
