stand up comedy
Just do it 2 years ago

Comedy is a lot like sex. Your first time is bound to be a bit awkward, but after you finish for the first time, you can’t wait to try it again.

Your best bet is to try to find an open mic comedy night somewhere in your area. Always call the place to make sure they’re having the event that night—don’t just trust their website or what Google tells you.

You’ll feel a lot more comfortable if you have some material ahead of time, so I’d suggest writing a few jokes and rehearsing them.

grow a beard (read all 2 entries…)
It's just natural, man! 3 years ago

Once you make the decision to grow out your beard, you need to stick with it. Don’t let anything deter you from your goal. Stick with it through the itchy phase and the times when people give you a disapproving look. After 3-4 weeks, you’ll hopefully have some solid growth on your mug, and will join the company of men (manly men) who have also made the “bearded” decision.

Here’s just a short list of some famous people who have had beards:

1) Sean Connery
2) Ernest Hemmingway
3) Abe Lincoln
4) Henry David Thoreau
5) Charles Darwin
6) Leonardo da Vinci

So take a stand and buck the clean-shaven trend, at least for a season. Give it a try if you haven’t already. You may just fall in love with it.

On the other hand, you may hate it and shave it off immediately. But take some pictures first so you’ll at least have the memories.

learn how to drive stick-shift
Fun at times, but a pain in the cities... 4 years ago

If you live in a town with a lot of hills, stop and go traffic, etc, you’re probably better off with an automatic. However, some cars (sports cars and old muscle cars) are just more fun to drive with a manual transmission.
