Don't go touristy, be prepared to be challenged

I have been to Cuba multiple times for work, traveled much of the country, and have made close friends there. If you are true to yourself, you will let yourself undergo an evolution of feelings about this country full of ironies. One often starts out romanticizing the Revolution and/or blaming the U.S. for Cuba’s problems. It takes a long time to begin to understand this complex situation, your heart will break, then soar, then break again.
