Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Swim with dolphins
Dolphin swim!!

Such fun! I did this with my nine year old daughter… It was so neat to touch and learn about these creatures and even better to see my little girl in such awe. So fun! The ride itself was fast & bumpy, but a fun experience…

go to Hawaii

Love the sunshine. It’s been fun to see my kids swimming in the WARM ocean—they were so surprised at how warm it is!! I’d live here if I could!!

Run the Portland Marathon

I ran it this morning…. the longest I’ve ever ran!! It wasn’t as hard as I thought it may be, I trained for it pretty well. But my body was definately begging to be done @ all points after about mile 23!! What a wonderful feeling though, to cross the finish line, knowing I just completed something I’ve always wanted to do!!

run the Sound to Narrows (read all 2 entries…)

Ran this again this morning & got my best time ever! One hour, three minutes, 46 seconds. It’s an improvement of 18:46 over last year, so I’m happy about that. I really wanted to break the hour, though. ;) There’s always next year….

go to Moscow
It was amazing!!

So worth going!! A friend of mine is working in Moscow for a few months and invited DH & I to come for a visit. It was wonderful to see her and we couldn’t beat the free lodging, just blocks from Red Square! It was really a unique experience. The sights there are amazing, the prices high, the people beautiful. We loved it. Go if you ever have the chance.

run the Sound to Narrows (read all 2 entries…)

I did it this morning! I didn’t make great time, but I haven’t been running enough lately to expect that. It felt good to finish the run, even though my time was much slower than when I did it in my teens… ;)
