I haven’t been to Florence since I spent a semester there in 1996. Ten years is too long—I’m planning to go back and wander the streets of Florence again in October 2006.

In the fall of 1996, I spent a semester studying in Florence, Italy. I shared a flat with 7 other girls, and at the end of the semester, we decided that if we ever lost touch, we’d meet again in ten years, at the Trevi Fountain in Rome. We went our separate ways and promptly lost touch with each other. I’m still in touch with one of these girls—and next year’s the year to meet up with the rest. If they remember, and if they come. At least there’ll be the two of us.
