I began playing piano and performing at age 11. I easily read music but also learned to add fills, runs, and chords using a method based on music theory that I learned. I always played the piano using the music or improvised using the chording system that I had learned while looking at the music.

I never learned to play the piano by ear. If someone wanted to sing a song and I did not have the music, a fake sheet, or a chord chart for the song, then I could not play it. I want to learn to play the piano to accompany someone singing or a band without using the music. Thus I want to learn to play the piano by ear.

one month goal – to write chord charts for two songs and then play an accompaniment for these two songs in at least three keys

one year goals – to have created chord charts for at least 24 songs that I can play in at least three keys each

three year goal – to accompany a band without using written music or chord charts but will have practiced the songs with them

five year goal – to accompany a singer or musicians on the piano without using written music or chord charts and without having practiced with them before

I began playing the piano and performing at age 11. I attended two gospel music schools. I completed a second major in music in college (mathematics was my main major). I played piano for church for over 30 years. I now perform only at special functions in the community and at church.

I learned to play gospel piano using a chording system that requires knowledge of music theory. I can play a hymn and improvise by looking at the music. I do not play by ear at this time.

I am interested in creating a piano course (probably gospel) to teach people who read music how to improvise and add chords, run, and fills to their piano playing. I will probably do a gospel course because I know which hymns are in public domain and this method requires you to look at the music and immediately recognize the chord from the notes. Hymns have four notes where as some other types of music usually include a piano accompaniment. If the chords are given, then someone could easily play the piano and add extra notes using this method.

one month goals – to have completed the content and the pdf for the first two songs in the course with videos

one year goal – to have completed the first piano course in pdf format teaching how to play the piano using chords

three year goal – to have an online piano course available through a membership site, the course will contain PDFs with the content and pianosheets, videos will also be included in the course

five year goal – to have revised the online piano membership course and included testimonials

I bought a house on a bay and the bay connects to the Gulf of Mexico. I would like to get a nice boat. I thought about getting a pontoon boat that would be good for cruising on the bay, but I might want to get a larger boat so that I could also go out in the gulf.

one month goal – to make an extra payment on my house which will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

one year goal – making extra payments on my house will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

three year goal – making extra payments on my house will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

five year goal – to purchase a nice boat and make a substantial down payment
