I'm doing 14 things
We got married May 5 2007 in Port Orange, FL. It was so much fun. I am not into the lacy perfect frilly kind of wedding stuff so this was perfect. Almost everyone of our guests dressed up as pirates! To start the ceremony, my husband “stole” treasure from the centerpieces of the tables. My mother “caught” him and sentenced him to walk the plank. As our entire audience was chanting “Walk the Plank, Walk the Plank” my husband held off the wedding party with his sword while they surrounded him. Then my dad interupted the activity, telling everyone one that “nobody is going to be walking the plank. There’s been a little hugging here, and probably a little kissing, so, darn-it, there’s going to be a WEDDING!” Tony, glad for the interuption of his death sentence, agreed to it and then the ceremony proceeded. The wedding party entered to “Cat-like tread” from Pirates of Penzance. The vows were pretty funny, so it was kind of like having a laugh-track, we had to pause between almost every line while people laughed. We borrowed the vows from Captn Slappy’s advice on deadmentellnotales.com and changed them and added parts of our own. After we were man and wife, we went back up the aisle to “Pirates Life for Me”. After that, we drank a lot of rum, ate lots of good Italian food from Ambersjewelcatering.com, and danced like crazy to DJ Andy Ferrari’s music. My wedding cake was a pirate ship that my mother constructed and decorated herself. We forgot a cake cutting knife, but luckily, the best man handed Tony his own sword and we cut the cake with the sword.

We honeymooned on the Disney Wonder cruise ship, which had a pirate night that we wore our wedding costumes to. Also, it docked one day at Castaway Cay where the actual Flying Dutchman pirate ship from POTC 2 & 3 is beached! So we kind of kept the pirate theme going for awhile!
