grow a beautiful backyard garden (read all 2 entries…)
done! 15 months ago

it took a while, and with all the rain, i wasn’t sure i was going to have any flowers at all! but miracle grow and some sunshine and my garden has been blooming all summer now! i still have flowers, lots of flowers! there have been some small setbacks, like the squirrel attacking my favourite flower pot and literally throwing the flowers onto the ground, but overall, i have really enjoyed growing a backyard garden. and there are endless possibilities. no garden will ever look the same and that’s exciting. and i really like creating and shaping and workign at something like that. this goal was definitely worth it!

get a different job
Untitled 19 months ago

crazily enough, i got another job in early march, but a temporary transfer to another area of the same job that i do. and it’s nice, but there’s really not that much to do, so i spend many days pretending to look like i’m working. and that may sound ideal to some….but i feel guilty about it even when i’ve asked my boss if there’s something for me to do and he says no. i feel like i should be doing something work-related regardless. anywho, so this past friday i get a phone call at work at 1.30pm and it’s this woman asking me if i would still be interested in this position i applied to in another organization…ohhhh 3 years ago. so i said yes. it’s a promotion, though only a thousand dollars more, which i will have to spend all on parking, but the level is higher and more responsibility and out of my organization which truly needed to happen and it’s all very good. the only things i don’t know and won’t know for a little while at least are whether the one year assignment i’ve been offered will become permanent and whether i’ll actually like this job. because yes, there’s somethign to be said for more money and more responsibility and room for advancement, but if you don’t like the job it’ll just be like torture nonetheless.

i’m impressed with how quickly i managed to accomplish this goal. i really wasn’t expecting it to happen, which is why i think it was at the bottom of my list. oh and i’ve also been invited to write some tests for another job! that’s happening money. so suddenly, from 0 job offers when i really felt like i was going to have to quit if nothing happened (except i can’t….) to 1 different and better job, 1 old sucky job, 1 new job, and 1 potential new job. crazy! but oh so good. :) i really do feel a sense of accomplishment with this goal, because i’ve been working on it for 3 years now.

Go to the dentist
a costly goal 19 months ago

sure, it’s worth going to the dentist…but now it’s costing me lots of money and time! there’s a down to every up it seems. 3 different problems, none severe but each takes some time to fix, so at the end of this month i estimate that i will have spent $1000 on the dentist. luckily i don’t have to pay for the majority of it (thank you insurance, thank you) but still. 3 appointments at $300-$350 each??? that seems a bit ridiculous!
