These are things, damn it, Jim!
Only now it’s Bootup Labs. And really, Bill’s WorkSpace has much of the same spirit of the original idea.
I don’t think I do. Glasses aren’t that hard. I might give contacts a try again some time.
Well, it had to happen. Why limit it to Vancouver when you can take it across the country? Check out http://www.innovationcommons.ca to keep up to date.
Do we win for having the most restaurants entered? Let’s have contests between the local cities. With Fun Prizes™! Like, a custom My Little Pony for your very own city. We’ll give it to the mayor, I promise.
I keep hearing about the Albion ferry on the radio in the mornings. And how there is a 1-sailing wait. I have no idea where this ferry is, or where it sails. I believe it carries cars. Hopefully you can just be a passenger, or maybe Kate and I will need to get a CAN car.
The Albion ferry. It’s like a dream.
Alex and Rob of Social Signal had a whole bunch of web geeks and spouses over, and cooked a truly delicious meal. I took my usual role and hung out in the kitchen, trying to weasel my way into food prep and also making sure beer steins and wine glasses were kept full.
I’m looking forward to the next food/tech event. Thanks!
When I’m not drinking coffee at home, I try to resist the urge to go to the much, much closer Starbucks, and instead go to our favourite local coffee experience, Take 5 Cafe.
Oh, and I also bought a two cup filterless coffee maker for the office. The lack of a sink/running water still makes this pretty painful.
And Greg and I both agreed that this is the kind of power boat we would enjoy—roomy, spacious, and not at all clastrophic. Find out more about ABD Yachts here.
You know, Grizzly Man...he plays with foxes all the time. The foxes are the best part of the movie. I would almost watch it again if it was called Playing with foxes…or something.
See Pitt Polder on 43Places.
Jack Christie’s book, the 50 best day trips from Vancouver, is what is inspiring this goal. Some I’ve already gone on, and others are pointing to wild areas in and around Vancouver that I never knew existed.
I’ll be using the tag 50 best day trips over on 43places to keep track.
Maybe I would change my entry to something like “Cook a meal with everything on this list”, since I like cooking, especially with strange/new ingredients. Of course, if I screwed up cooking guinea pigs, maybe I wouldn’t want to do it a second time, and then I’d miss out on eating points.
OK, so what am I missing/what have I eaten that’s interesting?
I’m having fun with this, and haven’t gotten bored. I’m addicted to Hasselhoff as well as Subscriptions. Cheers!
For starters, I want to make this happen in Vancouver, but I specifically didn’t put that as part of the goal: I want to see every city have one of these. Here’s my thought on the main statement of purpose:
To build a 24/7 physical space where entrepreneurs can gather to motivate each other’s innovation.

The boat, as some people have inquired, is actually still on Bowen Island at my parents’ house. My mother is threatening to turn it into a giant planter.
