I started this one over a year ago. Went out and picked the finest equisetum stalks from the perimeter of an old cranberry bog on the property. Used hawthorn branches for the ribs and handle. It’s been hanging on a wrought iron hook in a rafter beam in the kitchen for long enough that the equisetum isn’t green any more. It isn’t to the point that all the ribs are even in place. I have to tell people what it is when they ask. “Why, it’s a basket!?” I say. “oh?!” they reply, “I see that now. It’s lovely.” I’m going to start telling people it was there when we moved in.I’m sure that when I finish, it will be lovely. I’ll post a picture when it is so.

Next time, I’ll wait until my wife has something canned. She did make tomato sauce last year, but we only have half a dozen jars. So,I just built myself a tool pantry, and I now have the freshest tools of anyone I know.

Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery. In this case, seeing the living room from the kitchen was more practical than seeing more kitchen. It makes both rooms look bigger and was a mere fraction of the cost of a kitchen addition. All I have to do now is learn how to install concrete countertops.
