I got accepted! Ages ago, actually! In about two days I will start my program at AI and I’m very excited, but nervous as well.

How I did it: I decided to move to Boston because I love the east coast and I was accepted to a school here. I worked extra shifts and saved money to make the move. I looked for roommates on craigslist and applied for a transfer with the company I work for. Once I had secured a job and a place to live I moved! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went with a student ambassador program. Most the people in my group were quite immature, so I stuck with the couple of kids that were at my maturity level (I was the oldest of the group at the time). I definitely prefer traveling with a couple friends or by myself. Easier to not stand out as a tourist that way! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Even though this will make me sound like a (lame?) tourist, I got the Eyewitness guidebook. It was split up by different sections of the city and I found that it was really detailed. I only had 3 and a half days but I managed to see the best parts of Boston proper and do a little exploring in Cambridge and Brookline (w… Read how I did it…

It is sad to say that I’ve read less than 5% of the books on this list (but many are already on my to-read list). I’m officially starting this list today.
I’ve picked up copies of Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer and The Road by Cormac MacCarthy. So far, Everything Is Illuminated is wonderful.
What has hindered me most from going sooner was the fact that plane tickets from the West Coast USA to England are over $1000 usually, and I’d have to drive over 250 miles to get to an international airport. However, this summer I am moving to Boston, and tickets from there to England are about half of what they are from San Francisco. This makes Glasto a much more realistic goal!
I’m going to fight hard to get my hands on a ticket to the 2010 fest. I have a friend who has been to Glasto a couple of times, so I’m sure she can give me pointers.
