How I did it: We got married on Aug 30th! It was the best day of my life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm really grateful that so much of my family could make it since they all live so far away. Holly wore a green dress and I wore a green tie and vest with my tux, and our "party people" wore the same in white. We had the most beautiful brightly colored flowers everywhere, the best musicians, and an amazing socal sunset to back it up! Read how I did it…
I think technically I could check this one off, but I just don’t think it would be right.
We did actually go backpacking, but we got detoured to a site different than our original one because of weather. And then at our new site, it started raining just after we set up the tent and started making our food. Luckily we were under an arch of trees so we could still eat outside without getting too wet, but after we got in the tent it started pouring rain. I think we were inside the tent for 14 hours straight waiting for the rain to let up. If it weren’t for a couple of Nalgene flasks full of red wine, I don’t think we could have gotten through that with our sanity. It stopped raining just long enough for us to get everything packed up so we just hiked out (in the rain, of course) and went home. So our three day trip turned into a one and a half day trip. It wasn’t my idea of a good trip, so I can’t check it off. We’ll go again soon…
On my recent trip home I found all my old gear in my dad’s basement. This gear is about 15 years old, but I only used it once for a week during a hockey camp. Luckily, I stopped growing when I was 12, so it all still fits. I brought it back to San Diego with me so I’m getting closer to the ice…
