I did it. On Tuesday to the pool, I said, “Screw this… I’m wearing a bikini.” So I did. So I didn’t look great in it, but I’m getting there. Blah. One day, I will wear a bikini with confidence. :)

How I did it: Embarrassingly, I never wrote a thank you note to my host mother when I stayed with her nearly 2 YEARS AGO. As an awful person, I kept putting it off because I was too lazy to write it in Spanish. Finals came last week and to procrastinate, I decided it was finally time. You know, it wasn't horrible the way I was expecting it to be! Read how I did it…
How I did it: On Valentine's Day evening, a friend and I decided the library would be pretty empty. So we brought post its and pens. We were right; no one was there. We wrote post its and drew pictures and basically tagged the library. It was great to walk across campus the next day and hear people talking about the post its in the library. Some of them are still there 2 months later! Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took me 4 days to do the whole road trip thing. I know it took me 16 years to get a license and 2 years to get a car, but if you already have both of those, there's nothing stopping you. I had a week-long October break from school so I flew back home. Immediately, I drove to pick up my best friend. I called her when I was in front of her house, and she came out screaming and crying and laughing. There was only one thing to do. Pick up … Read how I did it…

Every Sunday night in a nearby park, a band plays. Last night I went with my dad. It was nice not only to get closer to attaining this goal, but also to spend time with my dad.
It’s hard for me to define fluency. I speak in Spanish, I dream in Spanish, I think in Spanish. At the same time, I recognize that I have soooo much left to learn of the language. Last year, 5 of my 10 classes were taught in Spanish. I’m really comfortable with the language, but feel like learning more about the cultures behind it has something to do with fluency too. By some standards, I guess I’m fluent. I consider myself bilingual, but I’m still waiting for the day I FEEL fluent.
