How I did it: I started on this blanket for my mom a couple of weeks before Mother's Day, then decided it was going to be her birthday present in July... and finally finished in August! I used a shell stitch pattern, changing colors each new row. It was a very basic stitch and got a little boring after a while, but at least it worked up quicker than using single crochet!
