How I did it: Sought out an improv company when I lived in Vancouver, volunteered, weaselled my way into the workshops then went as far as the rookie league. Didn't make it to main stage though, but I did end up at the "Just for Laughs" comedy festival one year, where we came in 2nd. That was one of the best experiences I've ever had back in 1997. How I did it: Sent him a "Good bye" email, ignored his calls, then with his last one, said to never phone me again. He didn't care anyway, so him moving on with his current "buddy" made the break a clean one. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I applied for an audition, which led to being cast, which led to rehearsals of improvisation, then the actual day came. I cried on cue! I'd done improv in the past, but reality improv forces you to take the matter more seriously and to take the focus off of yourself and place it onto the ones who'll benefit, rather than entertain an audience. I was hanging with a fellow actor yesterday. I was bummed about the lack of work I was getting and he reminded me of my dreams when I was his age: wanting to go with my passion until I was 80. He repeated the exact words I’d said many years ago and reminded me that I still have that love of the career that chose me so long ago. I’d be miserable even looking for something else. I’ve been on this long ride for a reason: I’m married to it. If I were on my death bed, I could sincerely say it was the best choice I’d ever made and I don’t regret pursuing my dream, regardless of everything else in my life. I’d give up everything else for it, and I think I have. Thanks J.S.W.
I thought of buying it, but I figured that I have enough journals I’m scribbling in. Seeing this again is making my wallet itchy for another purchase. I know where to get it too!
