I’m moving so this goal is over! Yay!
I have fallen in love and plan on staying in Naples! However, I do still want to move and now that I have found a new job, I’m moving out of my parents’ house and into their guest house. I’m pretty excited, but probably won’t get in there for another month or so. With all the free time I’ll have now from not job searching I’m sure I can find the stuff I need to spruce up the place.
I saw a large majority of my college friends in St. Louis this year at a wedding! It was nice seeing them all, and it didn’t really feel like we had been apart. They were all the same. The only thing I noticed was that I felt like I was in a different phase of my life since I’m the only one who isn’t still in school, or soon going back to school. I am out of the “college-mindset,” but they have all kept that mentality. However, it was fun to see them, and they met my boyfriend.
I got a new job! It’s front office work at a small private local college. I’m so excited! I put my two weeks notice in on Saturday, so the day after Black Friday is my last day! I cannot wait!
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
I love Neil Gaiman. I think he has an amazing imagination and reading his books make me feel like a girl reading fairytales. Only these are much more developed and interesting. The Graveyard Book is a fairytale using ghosts instead of fairies. It was exciting and kept you wanting more. Bod is a good leading character, and he guides you through the story as if you are the boyliving in the graveyard. The only complaint I have is with the weakly shaped reason he was orphaned in the first place. It seemed a bit forced and unexciting.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.
Feeling very satisfied with this goal. I have slightly diversified and talked seriously about this with my boyfriend, who works in financial planning/life insurance/etc. I’m also going to treat my investment amounts as a bill each month!
I challenged myself to run a 4 mile run on Thanksgiving, so I had to start training. I started last Thursday and have ran 3 times, and I’m going again tomorrow. This week I’m also going to start some sort of cross-training, probably pilates. Which I hope will also help me improve my posture.
I am satisfied with what I have done with this goal this summer. I have decided to not renew my domain hosting again next year. I am trying to decide what site to use as my host for my photo blog. And if I should combine it with my rarely used “personal” blog.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This is a great book about the sufferings of the German people during WWII. It is very well written. Of course it is sad, but it’s very touching and there is something about it that is uplifting as well. I really enjoyed the narrator being Death and would recommend this book.
Take chances, take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel, always. Be you, and be okay with it.
A week after the last date I went on another date with a different guy; one in my circle of friends. I was more interested in him than the last guy and the date was good. I went on a vacation the week after and surprisingly, couldn’t stop thinking about him. So when I got back we hung out a few more times. I like being around him, so we decided to make it official. Oh and he’s a great kisser!
A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel
I love reading these humorous memoirs of someone’s past. Childhood is such a specific time in your life when you see the world how you believe it to be true. You explain things with false logic so that they make sense to you. This book was an excellent example of how children think and feel. It is honest, funny, and makes you think about your own childhood adventures. This is definitely a fun book anyone can enjoy.
This morning, I tried Jazzercise. I happened to know the instructor. It was pretty silly. I didn’t think it was a very big workout for me and I didn’t think she was a good instructor. I have decided I want to try a Zumba class, and as soon as I know when I’m working next week, I’ll try to fit it in.
Last night I had my first date in two years. It was only okay. We had some interests in common, but he felt more like friend potential than anything more than that. He, however, had a “wonderful” time and called me mid morning today. Despite not connecting romantically, I’m glad I went. It was good practice and you never know. I didn’t kiss him, but dating leads to kissing. ;)
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
No one falls in love by choice, it is by chance.
No one stays in love by chance, it is by work.
And no one falls out of love by chance, it is by choice.
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
I’m surprised I haven’t already read this, since I have owned it for years. I think it’s excellent: surprising and entertaining. I’m really into everything space related right now, fiction and nonfiction, so this was a good choice. I recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction or fantasy. Plus I loved their technology and some of it was so similar to what we have now, which is fascinating because this was written a while ago.
