QBQ The Question Behind The Question 15 months ago

It’s all about making better choices in the moment by asking better questions.

1. Begin with What or How. Not Why, When, Who.

2. Includes an I. Not They, Them, We, or You.

3. Focus on action

Skip the victim thinking, procrastinating, or blaming.

I can only change me.

Believe or leave. If the organization is no longer a vehicle to help us reach our life goals, why would we stay?

Take action.

How to Find Your Mission In Life 15 months ago

The mission is in three parts.

1. To know God, and enjoy Him forever, and to see his hand in all His works.

2.To do what you can, moment by moment, day by day, step by step, to make this world a better place, following the leading and guiding of God’s Spirit within you and around you.

3.To exercise the talent which you particularly came to Earth to use—your greatest gift, which you most delight to use, in the places or settings which God has caused to appeal to you the most, and for those purposes which God most needs to have done in the world.

If your aren’t faithful in the little things, how can you expect to be given charge over larger things?

The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.

The Last Lecture 15 months ago

Thoughts from Randy that resonate…

We can not change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.

You’ve got to get the fundamentals down, because otherwise the fancy stuff is not going to work.

When you are screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they’ve given up on you.

BRICK WALLS ARE THERE TO STOP THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T WANT IT BADLY ENOUGH.

Time must be explicitly managed, like money. Don’t invest time into irrelevant details.

You can always change your plan, but only if you have one.

Are you spending you time on the right things?

LUCK IS INDEED WHERE PREPARATION MEETS OPPORTUNITY.

If you take one-tenth the energy you put into complaining and applied it to solving the problem, you’d be surprised by how well things can work out.

Group work…

Meet people properly by exchanging contact info after introductions.
Find things you have in common.
Try for optimal meeting conditions..not hungry, cold, or tired.
Let everyone talk and don’t finish someone’s sentence.
Check egos at the door. Write down ideas with labels specific to the idea not the originator.
Praise each other.
Phrase alternatives as questions. If we did A instead of B?

If you wait long enough people will surprise and impress you.

EXPERIENCE IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DIDN’T GET WHAT YOU WANTED!!! And experience is often the most valuable thing you have to offer.

Proper apologies have three parts…
1. What I did was wrong
2. I feel badly that I hurt you.
3. How did I make this better?

Ask for what you want. You just might get it. Never give up. It’s what will get you over the brick wall.

It’s better to be the best ditch-digger in the world rather than coasting along as a self-impressed elitist.

If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself.
