How I did it: Actually read more than 4! Three Cups of Tea, Water for Elephants, Dream It. List It. Do It. (maybe this one doesn't count?), Radical Acceptance, Skinny Bitch. All good ones! Read how I did it…
It’s amazing to me how just by writing something down and making it public makes you really try to stick to your guns and DO IT! I’ve said for YEARS that “I should drink less”...”I’m going to drink less…” blah, blah, blah… but never managed to do it. But since I’ve written this goal down, I’m actually so aware and conscious of it, somehow I seem to be able to practice moderation! It’s a miracle! :) It’s usually all or nothing with me, so this is amazing! In the last 3 weeks, I would say on average, I have consumed only 3 alcoholic beverages on an evening out with friends. This 3-4 less than I normally would drink. For example, last night I went out from 7-10 with a friend who needed to drink his sorrows away for not winning an audition and had 2 beers. Then I went to a birthday party from 10-1am and only had 1 beer! I resisted all the shots and other booze they were trying to push on me. THEN, I met another friend who was in town for only one night from 1-3:30am and NO DRINKS!! Even though he kept trying to buy me drinks—I resisted!! I must say, it is nice to be able to wake up after a long night of socializing and not feel like absolute sh*t and to actually be able to have a productive day still. Tonight, I went out with a friend from 7-1am and only had 2 glasses of wine! Not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I am sincerely shocked at myself! 6 hours of socializing with only 2 glasses of wine?? Unheard of for me. I would have had at least 6 glasses before. Anyway, I feel so much better physically and feel good mentally that I am making progress on one of my goals. Thank you 43 Things community!!
Went to orientation meeting for New York Cares tonight… one of the largest volunteer organizations in NY. Now will be able to sign up for volunteer projects regularly! Excited to get started!
