I’ve always bit my nails, until about two months ago when I went on a date with this guy, he noticed them and commented that i should let em grow out…And that was it, i just stopped…kind of. Every now and then I’ll bit them, and I notice hang nails and that really sets me off. There has been an improvement, and im sure with a little more effort ill be able to stop completely.

I’d been thinking about getting my nape pierced, and after two months I decided “what the hell” and went down the street to get it done. For the record I am terrible when it coomes to pain. Anyway I went and talked with the guy, he made my jewelry for me (this is super important, make sure they bend a barbell for you, it should look like a long flat U shape… otherwise your body will reject it and you’ll get scars), and got measured, basically making sure the jewelry would fit and that the piercing would be straight. My guy didn’t use any clamps, which i hear are the worst usually. The piercing itself wasn’t bad at all. The usual prick and sting from the first hole…the worst part was the second hole, although this wasnt bad either…more akward feeling than anything else…afterall it is a piece of metal going through the back of your neck. Anyway, they put the jewelry in, this kind of hurt as they have to maneuver a bent barbell through your skin, but it wasn’t bad.
overall i say it was about a 6 on the pain scale, even less than my bellybutton.
I’m only two days post-piercing but it already looks great. I’ve employed the LITHA theory (LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE) and other than cleaning it twice a day, and three sea salt soaks throughout the day, its totally hands off. It didn’t bleed, or swell up or bruise, and it isnt even red around the piercing either.
I say go for it if you’re thinking about it. It doesnt hurt that much, and if you’re concidering your nape, chances are pain isn’t much of a factor anyway. My only suggestions are to talk with your piercer before hand. bring in a necklace and a halter top (if you wear them often) and make sure the positioning won’t interfere with these things.
good luck everyone!!!
