I have had the chance to see this magical phenomenon twice this far, first in Finnish Lapland and then just above the international airport in Helsinki. It’s hypnotizing to watch the colours glow in the air… Some claim they make a crackling sound, do they or is it just a myth? I can’t remember hearing anything.

I have two tin whistles at home but I’ve never had the time or energy to grip the whistle and start practising. Must do that some day, but that’s still of a lower priority on my “to do” list. Maybe when I’m retired or something.
one of my favourite countries

I went to Ireland in summer 2000 with my parents. We stayed mainly in Dublin but did daytrips to Newgrange, Hills of Tara, Rock of Cashel and Glendalough. A beautiful country, extremely friendly people. Love the spirited melodies of Irish folk music. Next time I’d like to visit the rugged west coast as they say that is where you’ll find the true Ireland.
