...and I’m starting How to Be Alone by Jonathan Franzen right now.

I went through the orientation with the Humane Society, now I just have to find time to go!

I actually did this for a few weeks. Back surgery took me out of the game. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t all that fulfilling. Playing with animals is fun, of course, but 4 hours in a row is just depressing. I may go back, but I’m looking for something more stimulating for my next volunteer opportunity.
