How I did it: I gathered together all of the envelopes I have received from my attorney that I have accumulated and put them in date order from oldest to most recent. Took a deep breath and opened and read them one at a time. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I set aside a day to catch up all at once. To prepare, I sorted all the stuff in my financial paperwork basket. Put all the bill envelopes together, then opened them, tore off the payment stubs and put them together with their envelopes and put the statements for the month together. How I did it: By setting aside a day to go through several piles of paper. I made a list of the different piles I wanted to get through by the time I went to bed. The pile of coupons, the pile of newspapers, the desk drawer full of accumulated paper, etc. I labeled small pieces of notepad paper with categories to aid in sorting (financial, to buy, house, etc) and left the most room for the recycle pile.
