I have always been inspired by Angus and Julia Stone, a brother/sister folk duo from Sydney. I saw them in LA and wish I could have seen them when I visited Australia, but they were in studio.
The problem of course is that they don’t have a direct mail line, it’s filtered through their record company I believe. But it won’t hurt to try, hmm?
Also, if you get the chance and feel the inclination, check em out! I like to listen to them while I paint, it’s very soothing. Try “Just a Boy”, “Paper Aeroplane”, and “Mango Tree”.

How I did it: I saw an ad for the Nike Human Race, which was to be held in different cities all over the world on the same day. I've been wanting to do a race for a long time and the price was right ($25). My friend and I signed up for the 5K because this was our first race and we were intimidated, but we shouldn't have been because it was a fun run and not super serious. The race was at midnight at the USC campus in LA and there's no… Read how I did it…
How I did it: If I want something to happen, it needs to be in my face all the time. Hence the poster boards. I made two- 1) Workout Schedule and 2) School schedule (of assignments, tests, whatnot). I was tired of being caught unawares and this pretty much fixed it (school wise anyway. The workout one just fills me with twisted guilt when I can't check it off, as my philosophy teacher says "Pain is motivation." How true). … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Couch to 5K is a pretty well known program. Over a nine week period, it slowly builds up your endurance and fitness level until you can run a 5K or about 30 minutes (for me, the two don't go hand in hand haha. But I'm working on it). The website where you can find the plan is http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml. It was slightly challenging without being too strenuous. For weeks 1-7, I ran based on time.&nbs… Read how I did it…

My wonderful father is going to go skydiving with me in San Diego when I graduate. :D My mom told me a story about when they were on vacation recently and he was telling people about our plans to go bc he’s excited. How cute is that, I love my dad.
My first email was to Aaron Blumenshine. He is a young photographer working out of NY/LA/ and I believe London. His work can be seen at his website here: http://www.aaronblumenshine.com/.
I came across his blog at a time when I was really really down on all of my photo assignments and wondering if I had the drive to be a creative photographer and I found his work inspirational. Which is pretty much what my letter said.
I am not sure whom to write to next. Too bad HD Thoreau was way before my time, or he would definitely be getting a letter.
Update: He wrote back!! Very gracious and sweet. He said it was really hard to be an artist and encouragement is always helpful. How very true.
