I’ve been watching it. It’s funny and good. Bill Cosby is a good role model also haha.
Then again I was talking to this counselor the other day and he said “life’s not like the Huxtables.” Kind of funny, especially because I didn’t mention the Cosby Show at all or anything. I guess everyone on that show is really successful and everything generally works out perfectly, or at least a perfect lesson is learned.
Still though, a good show. Kids like it and I did when I was a kid when I was younger. Still enjoyable to watch once in awhile now.

I got a lot better at my last apartment.
I make pasta, ravioli, chicken, salad, rice, stir fry, potatoes, fish, eggs, hot sandwiches, French toast, pancakes, etc.
I usually keep it pretty healthy, hearty, and pretty well rounded. I don’t usually make anything that takes a lot of time or too much preparation though.
I should use the slow cooker more. If you throw in potatoes, meat, chicken, vegetables, and some spices, and some kind of gravy and let it cook all afternoon while you’re doing something else and come home to that, damn, that’s tasty.

I used to do this all the time when I was younger, by my grandpa’s house. I liked it. It was calm and relaxing and I would feed older bread to the ducks at the local lake, or sometimes pick up a loaf at the bakery just to feed them with.
I don’t think I’ve fed ducks in a long time. I should probably try to make a point of it when I get the opportunity again. :)

I’ve done this and it is awesome. Hopefully I can do it again if I live somewhere with a fireplace again.

A little bit hard right now because I’m sort of in between things.
Anyone have any advice for what to do in this situation? Something unique would be great, not just reading or taking walks or something.
Thanks!

I almost forgot about this. I did this quite a few times with slightly different variations and with different people. Kind of fun. Seems more like some lore you check out when you’re 16. I wouldn’t really waste your time on it now.

It always feels good to do this, and I think I can put together a pretty good one. Do it!

That’s what it’s known as and a lot of people have called it that. I think Norman Mailer may have some connection with that. Anyway it always sort of makes me laugh, but I know what that saying means.
The place has a harsh winter and very distinct seasons in general, is the 3rd largest city in America, and has old buildings everywhere you look. It also has the loop and Millennium Park, the Gene Siskel Film Center, Hyde Park, and a host of other interesting places.
It definitely has a very distinct feel. You can’t mention Chicago without the cons to go along with the pros though. Corrupt government, buildings in ridiculous condition, ghettos, poverty, crime, vast urban wastelands where there’s not much of anything. It all just adds to the character of the city, but certainly most of that needs improvement.
It’s an interesting, historical, uniquely American, urban place. Don’t forget the L train, Metra train, lots of colleges and universities, museums, great theater, strong neighborhood identity, ethnic food, and more. Lots of character here, just make sure you’re up for all of the extremes. And it’s close to Wisconsin and Indiana. :P

Alright a lot of people aren’t familiar with this word, but a sinecure is a job or office with little or no work. The word has origins in the church and means the same thing: a job for the church with no work.
I know everyone has had a friend at one point in time who said they “basically just get paid to be there” for some random job at one point in time. Those are usually kid type jobs though they may involve a lot of down time.
A bad sinecure is a government sinecure where tax dollars get wasted and nothing gets accomplished.
There’s gotta be some full on careers out there though that don’t waste tax dollars, and are legitimate, that are just pretty darn easy. haha. I’ll keep my eye out for one of those. Not that it’s not rewarding to have a job well done doing something you’re interested in, because that’s cool too.

I’m so torn on this. I’ve been a lifelong PC user. I might be interested in trying a Mac though. Macs use Intel chips now and even allow multiple OS’s (as you probably all know). So they seem really versatile. Then again their prices are often $700-$1000 higher than a PC laptop with comparable specs. That’s not cool at all. So it’s a really hard decision. I’ve been combing through store ads, ebay and other websites, asking people about it. Any thoughts, especially based on experience?

I’m not really big on Disney at all. I don’t like the childish, patriarchal, fantasy vibe in the films. I’ll admit that Fantasia and the Straight Story are pretty cool though.
Anyway I was in the back lounge room of a jazz bar the other night with my friend and I had 2 drinks and apparently that was the limit. I said, “What is this, Disneyland?” Which seemed pretty funny. And then we got to talking about the place there by Pirates of the Caribbean. According to him you can drink alcohol there and it has a 2 drink limit. I don’t recall because the last time I was there I was underage, but if I ever go back, I know where I’ll be hanging out! haha.

Seen some of the episodes, mainly from the Next Generation, over the years. And I rented the DVD where Kevin Smith directs a couple episodes. That was actually not bad.

If you really hone this, it works great. It can guide you through family disputes, car trouble, and all sorts of problems.

Man I’m so back and forth on this. Sometimes I can’t wait to do what’s next, and then what’s after that, and so on. I just want to keep getting things done and being more and more productive.
Then times like now I put almost everything off. And you guessed it, of course it’s related to how I’m feeling about life at the moment. There’s soooo much to do right now. I guess I’m a little overwhelmed these days and hoping to get back into a really productive state.
You guys have some good ideas below. Cheers.

Really need to work on this one. The hardest part is being optimistic in hard circumstances. This is probably the hardest time in my life right now. It’s much easier to be optimistic when things are going well. :P

Harbin Hot Springs, in Northern California

Been there? Heard about it? Have any friends that have gone? From the looks of the website at least, it seems hardly nudist at all, just vaguely clothing optional.

Sounds good.
I’d like to be in a really neighborly neighborhood at some point again. The neighborhood I was in growing up was like that. The more recent neighborhoods I’ve been in have been more like neighborly with the immediate neighbors, i.e. the people living directly next door. I sort of have in my head an ideal, functioning neighborhood. Hopefully I can find it sometime. In too many places people are busy or have extremely annoying barking dogs or do other unneighborly things. :/

I checked that I’ve done this and I want to do it again because you can always improve. I’m not the best at reading music but I think I play rather well from the standpoint of improvisation, songwriting, having a natural approach, and my own unique style.

I feel much better in a clean car preferably with some chill music. I’m definitely one to take the time to wash it, wax it, vacuum out the inside, and keep stuff in the glove box instead of floating around the vehicle.
Worth doing!

I would really like to get a hybrid, biodiesel, or electric car.
My current car doesn’t have very good gas mileage at all, and I feel sort of guilty driving it.
Anyone see that movie Who Killed the Electric Car? It’s awesome. And of course An Inconvenient Truth. These are some great movies that talk about cars and the environment.
I think biodiesel is the best choice if possible. Some gas stations have pumps for it now and allow you to get it.
I really want a more environmentally friendly ride with better mileage also. Hopefully I can do that one of these days.
