Someone once told me the best things happen in the interruptions- I planned on doing a clinic for my race tomorrow this morning – that was to be my first one. I got to the clinic and was told it was going to be a crossing. I thought they were kidding….but as it turns out I had a perfect sunny day on the bay to do my first Alcatraz swim – made it in under an hour and am very excited about tomorrow!! From zero to twice in one weekend- very cool!

I am freaking out and trying to calm myself- I am registered to do this- clearing my calendar for as much pool time I can get, researching wetsuits and reserving Sundays starting in 2 short weeks, for cold cold open water training sessions at Aquatic Park. My kayak angels have volunteered to help me train “in the chop” as it gets closer – and I am starting to learn about currents – don’t know what I have gotten myself in for- but have sufficiently scared myself into continued action!
If I wanted to teach weekends, it would be packed I think. I have about all the students I can take right now without going crazy (at last count it was 21 voice, 5 or 6 piano) – and am looking forward to getting something full time vs. all of the independent contractor work – although it’s nice to know I have that option for the future as well!
