Lose enough weight to fit comfortably in all my work clothes again (read all 5 entries…)

Turns out losing about 4kg was all I needed. I am amazed about how much difference just a few kilos makes. Am now back squarely in size 12 region rather than pushing 14/16.

How I did it: I saw a dietician who put me on a no sugar no yeast diet and lost around a kilo a week on that. I am not sure whether the type of diet is just a sneaky way of forcing me off bread and pasta (which mostly contain yeast) and onto lean protein and vegies. The diet also excludes the things I love that are not excellent for my waistline, e.g. cheese and wine, so it has not been super-easy. But I’m happy I made some progress and I’ll try to take what I’ve learned about balance and portion sizes, and use it to ward off piling it all back on too quickly.

Made babaghanoush for the first time. Not great as I really prefer it smoky-flavoured, which is hard to achieve without char-grilling it. Maybe I’ll try the BBQ next time.



Make an Indian curry from scratch

Well, I made a curry, and not based on curry paste. However, it wasn’t TRULY from scratch, as I used pre-ground spices to make my own paste, rather than grinding up the various seeds etc (cumin, coriander, fenugreek, fennel, chilli, garam masala).

So I’m keeping this goal on the list, although I probably need to use more of all the ground spices in the pantry before I start buying bags of the non-ground ones…
