Turns out losing about 4kg was all I needed. I am amazed about how much difference just a few kilos makes. Am now back squarely in size 12 region rather than pushing 14/16.
How I did it: I saw a dietician who put me on a no sugar no yeast diet and lost around a kilo a week on that. I am not sure whether the type of diet is just a sneaky way of forcing me off bread and pasta (which mostly contain yeast) and onto lean protein and vegies. The diet also excludes the things I love that are not excellent for my waistline, e.g. cheese and wine, so it has not been super-easy. But I’m happy I made some progress and I’ll try to take what I’ve learned about balance and portion sizes, and use it to ward off piling it all back on too quickly.
