curious? 23 months ago

I weighed myself the other day after the longest time. I stood at 120, and to my amazement, I am now at 115. I’m not disappointed or anything, just surprised, as I haven’t been actively watching my weight or exerting any strenuous exercise.

Shrug.

trudging along 23 months ago

I’ve finished 4 books since January 1st. I’m currently in the middle of several, and while it sometimes feels like a failure (as the projected pace would be, if there were 52 weeks in a year, a book and then some a week), I’ve come to terms with this “failure” and have realized that what it really is is a small victory. It is a victory because I have not read this much since I began to discover my love for words.

As much as I don’t think I can catch up to the 50, there is still enough time (ten-and-a-half months is ten-and-a-half months) to read as much as I can, and I’ll be resolute with that simple goal.

(I’m still hoping for a fifty. For those of whom are going strong, cheers to all of you, as I’ve none left at the moment.)

:)

gradual improvement. 23 months ago

As expected, schoolwork and org-work have gotten in the way. I’ve only finished one book so far, but I’m adding to my stack of currently-reading>

“The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis (nearly done!)
“The Mystery of Things” by A.C. Grayling
“Atonement” by Ian McEwan
“The Bloody Chamber” by Angela Carter

My fingers are crossed for a speedier development! Good luck to those who have a similar goal of reading more this year. We can do it!

First 3. 2 years ago

(I’m the kind of person who needs to read things simultaneously.)

1. “Rebel Angels” by Libba Bray – second book of a trilogy
2. “The Mystery of Things” by A.C. Grayling – an anthology of essays
3. “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis – satire on religion and temptation

I’m almost finished with “The Screwtape Letters,” have read two or three of Grayling’s essays and am about to start on “Rebel Angels.” I’m trying to read very fast because school will get in the way soon. :(

But I’m excited to read. More than I have been in a really long time. :D

read to my godson
frustrating. 2 years ago

He’s a little firecracker. It’s hard to keep him still enough to read to him, and every time he’s around the house, everyone wants to play with him.

Do NaNoWriMo 2008
NaNoWriMo 2007. 2 years ago

I got as far as about 2,000 words, which is really far from the goal, but at least I got somewhere, yeah? :)

renewed interest. 2 years ago

Right now, I’m on holiday break from school and I’ve read about three books. Because of this, I definitely got excited about reading the books that I do already have that I haven’t read due to other “more important” (or more urgent, I guess) commitments.

If anyone also doing this needs a tip, Good Reads is a great way to keep track of your progress.

Good luck to everyone and myself!
2008 is going to be fantastic. :)

UPDATE. 2 years ago

So. I posted this goal a sufficiently long time ago; it was cheered seven months ago and I’ve basically forgotten about it.

This morning, I received a letter from one of the users who came across my page. In it, he told me about his day, mostly. And a little bit about his family. It was completely gratifying, though I don’t think I can explain why or how.

I am in the process of writing a reply. :)

fill my wall with photographs.
Photographs & my wall: 2 years ago

This is what I have so far. There’s a corkboard in the middle, and I don’t want to get rid of it because it’s useful. I might fill it up, even over the windows. I don’t know, we’ll see.

But look, I’m nearly done with one side. :D
