Giving up the coffee has been harder than I thought it would be. My “one cup of coffee, then switch to tea” method was not working very well at all. Once I started drinking coffee, I’d just keep refilling the cup because it was easier than making tea! So my new method is “cold turkey” – just start out with tea first thing in the morning and don’t even touch the coffee. So far 2 or 3 days of this and I am enjoying it so far. The only downside is a bit of a caffeine-withdrawal headache, since the tea I’m drinking is lower caffeine. But that will pass soon, I’m sure.
I bought a new tea (organic, fair-trade!) to inspire me in my efforts and it is VERY good. It’s this kind:
Gypsy King Chai by Zhena’s Gypsy Tea

Yum! There are lots of other flavors to try so this should help to keep me interested and away from the bad work coffee!

Went to a concert a week and a half ago – Ubaka Hill (amazing drummer) at the Ark. Last time I saw her was 5 years ago – still good! It was a light turnout, but this is my favorite place to see concerts (pretty much the only place I go for them) so it is always a good time. It made me happy to go out again after so long. Got tickets at the last minute, spur of the moment, glad we went! Now I’ll have to see who else will be coming around soon…

I’ve tried this before and I’m trying it again. 1 cup of coffee at work and then switch to tea for the rest of the morning. I never drink coffee or tea after lunch, unless I need it to warm up!
So this is my first day of the new system and it wasn’t hard. Eventually I want to wean myself completely off coffee and only drink tea, but this is the first step!
Now it’s afternoon so I’m on to water for the rest of the day (another goal – drink more water!)
