I was married for the first time at the age of 46. Believe it or not it was my husband’s first marriage too. We met on the online site Friend Finder. I kissed a whole lot of frogs during my single years. When a relationship ended I always tried to take a lesson about myself from it, and I always tried to find at least one positive thing that I learned. Dating and relationships are learning experiences that each of us need in order to be able to know when we’ve truly found the “perfect” guy. I will tell you this, until you are really truly ready within yourself it won’t come to you. Enjoy your single life and your friends, do your thing, take vacations, have your own hobbies. Don’t focus so much on being single. When relationships ended I always tried to remember the old saying “when one door shuts another opens” – but here’s the catch – “but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us”.

I always thought that the people that matter in you life will see past what you actually look like and see your heart. If they don’t take the time to look, they’re not worth knowing. I remember years ago I knew a girl who wasn’t much to look at, but she had a personality and heart that I envied, and still do today. A mutual friend said about this girl “she’s the ugliest women I’ve ever seen”. That person was superficial and blind to what’s important. Cherish yourself and embrace your true beauty.
I adopted a kitten a few years ago while I was on vacation. She has brought much joy into my life. I love cats and am a believer in the saying “cats rule, dogs drool”. Cats are very clean and don’t need to be walked. The best part is hearing their purrs of contentment. I’d swear my cat actually smiles :)
