How I did it: Having moved into the education sector in a non-teaching role, I realised that teaching was really what I wanted to do. I investigated all my options and went for a work-based route where I worked as an unqualified teacher and trained on the job. Places were very competitive on this scheme and when I first applied I was turned down. I realised I needed more experience. I had to bite the bullet and change jobs. How I did it: I decided to have acrylic nails put on to break the biting habit. I could see my nails were growing underneath and so, after about six weeks, I got the false nails removed. It was such a pleasure to actually have nails for the first time in my adult life. I’m going to start back at SW tomorrow. I’m going to go to a different class but feel very positive at the moment that this is something I can do.
