DECLARATION OF PEACE

Whether we like it or not, things will not get any better if we do not wake up and realize the future is ours to shape. So I propose we take control of our destiny and the destiny of earth itself.

Recently, scientists have been promulgating a theory that due to the Earth’s collapsing ecosystem, threatening pandemics of all ilk and the unrelenting demands of human reproductive and consumption patterns, we may just have our lights put out in about 50 years. Furthermore, some of these geniuses have been discussing a proposal to exterminate 90% of the current population of the diseased, compromised, needy, dependent, useless humans so the 10%ers can save the earth for themselves.

Hmmm. There is something wrong with this picture. First of all, these doctor dementos have created the chemical soup and stack of dynamite we sit on today and if they can figure out how to kill us all, why don’t they concentrate on saving the planet? I think they should be grounded to stop their trickering ways and turned upside down to empty their little tricky pockets. And, I think this conversation should be in the public forum.

The eternal use of earth’s resources and humanity’s resources to wage these ridiculous unwinnable wars is unacceptable and must be stopped. I believe that we must just say NO TO WAR AND NO TO WARMONGERS. ALL OF THEM!

I propose an immediate global ceasefire and return of all troops to their homelands to put things in order and to prepare for all the disasters coming our way – the least of them being catastrophic natural disasters and inevitable pandemics. The UN Peacekeeping forces which obviously do not keep peace anywhere should have only one prime directive. If any nation starts a fight with another while we are doing our housekeeping, kill them. All of our attention and all of our resources have to be on stabilizing our populations and stabilizing the earth to reverse this projected downward spiral into oblivion. We should have no other objective than to ensure there will be a future for our children and their children and an earth upon which to live it.

It is our obligation and it is our right. We are the children of the universe and the crown of creation so we should not be tolerating our wholesale destruction and the destruction of our garden. That this is the Garden, make no mistake. It is a fairy tale theology that we can allow any type of Armageddon which would decimate most of the population of the earth and its inevitable poisoning and destruction in the process and then there will be a new Kingdom.

To bring heaven to earth and to create a heavenly earth, we must respect our lives as divine expression and not allow killing to happen anymore – especially in the name of God. We are all related and if we are having family problems like sibling rivalry – killing is not and has never been a solution. It never can be. So we must stop the madness by a universal declaration of peace for the sake of a peaceful existence and to teach peace to our kids who now only know violence.

If the omnipresence of hatred and violence is not bothering us – it is bothering the earth. We throw up new manmade cancers into the atmosphere along with our emissions and pollutions. We will suffocate or burn up or fall into the earth or be drowned if we don’t stop it.

So, what do you say, fellow earthlings? Shall we bring the peace movement to a peaceful conclusion? If we’re good, really good, we will all be ready for a vast evolutionary leap at the Harmonic convergence and then we won’t even think about fighting anymore. Being peaceful will be as easy as breathing.

The way we stop fighting with each other is to start seeing each other as humans. Do human things togther like sing and dance and tell each other our stories. Look at our children. Dress up in our in our tribal clothes and see our rainbow family. Please, please, thre is room for all of us. Let us stop the killing now. No more ethnic cleansing. No more ignorance. All life is sacred. Let there be peace on this blessed planet.

To be true to myself would be to honor that I was an incorrigle child who needed a lot of love and stimulation and needed to be raised by the world. I was lucky – I got the world. I want to give something substantial back to the world as my thanks. I want to create a model community where we can heal people by working together and playing together – taking the fringe people. The lost kids, the marginal kids, the single men, the childless, mix everyone up and they will gravitate towards each other as they share the tasks of running a community.

To be true to myself would be to say I want to live in community and I want to help other people who are lonely too. I want to share the wealth of the stars of the sky, the bounty of the earth witht the urban bound hopeless street kids so they see there is more.

I have decided to drive from the Southwestern corner of Colorado to Toronto, Ontario to visit my daughter and see her perform in a high school play in which she is starring. This trip is about 2800 miles and will take me through Nebraska where my mother is buried and through Chicago where I was born. I will hang out in Toronto for as long as I want and then I plan to return more trans- Cananda and down through Montana and Wyoming. I plan to do this trip by myself, a lot of great music and with the company of the friendly people I know live in both countties whom I will meet along the way.

I am so stoked! I used to drive cross country and all around the country and was so impsired by the goodness of this land and the kindness of people. I think that there will be a lot of opportunity for talking to poeple about what’s on their minds and what’s important to them. I think that I will be inspired to be hopeful about America. Maybe we will conme up with ideas of things to do to make things better.

But mostly, I am excited to be able to visit my daughter with such an open ended opportunity. No plane to catch. We can hang out and drive to Niagara Falls and I can just be there without a schedule.

How much fun is that?
