Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

learn survival skills
So far...

I’m just getting a book about it (which happens to be stuck somewhere in the mail services, remind me not to make books come to the caribbean again…)

I’ve also looked for survival groups online and clubs that organize survival/hiking tours. I haven’t found a very active group that I feel comfortable with yet and as for the trips it’s pretty expensive so it’s not going to happen just yet but I’m definitely doing this before I turn 40 :D

Go to Accrobranche

It’s more or less a tree climbing obstacle course and there’s one in Martinique so I can’t miss this goal. It sounds like fun and I feel in an Idiana Jones’mood lately so… :)

become so fantastically good-looking I cause people of all genders, and their pets, to stop what they are doing and vomit capriciously because I make them look like asssssss (read all 2 entries…)
work in progress

So, aiming at this goal I got myself a new haircut and diferent shades of blond highlights. it has got some success :)

I didn’t make anybody vomit though, but I definitely attract attention more, AND also there’s this junky in my neighbourhood who is now crazy in love with me and scared the hell out of me when he followed me and asked me to kiss him while he was playing with his toy…Well at least I now know that I’m definitely crack head’s type (yay…)

stay a kid at heart

That’s not like it’s hard to me though…

Understand why men love beer so much :D

I have a theory that this is a key point on understanding men ahahah

If you think you can help me there, feel free to enlight me :)

go to London
London callin'

Loved it, especially Camden town :D

Fire a gun

I did that YEARS ago, I’d like to do it again, it’s pretty cool.

become so fantastically good-looking I cause people of all genders, and their pets, to stop what they are doing and vomit capriciously because I make them look like asssssss (read all 2 entries…)

I wasn’t sure about the vomit thing but I was told it wasn’t as BAD as I would have thought ;)

Finish "Atlas Shrugged"

Almost done but it took me AGES to get there! Very interesting book, I wish they’d translate it in French, would be MUCH easier for me to read! And I’m sure lots of French would benefit to hear of Ayn Rand’s philosophy too.

Visit Italy

I went twice (school trips!) was years ago and I loved every minute of both trips. Have been to Venice, Rome, Naples, Sienna… Everything was so beautiful, thinking about it makes me want to go back to Italy and also to go back to Italian, I leanrt the basics in high school, very easy language(except for conjugation!!) but that was YEARS ago…

build a tree house

I did buy a book with advice on how to do it, I’ll just wait until I find the perfect place and the perfect tree :) not for now anyway. If I ever have kids I definitely want to make it a family project (and I’m pretty sure I’d have as much fun as my kids or MORE :D )

live in the Caribbean

And still live here so far

Studying there, YAYAYAYAYAY!

clean my house

And I keep doing it lol

Eat less meat

Just thought I didn’t need to eat so much meat (everyday for lunch and dinner) So I lowered quantities. First I was kind of watching myself, making sure I wasn’t eating too much but I don’t have to watch myself anymore, I have meat maybe 3/4 times a week and that’s already plenty I’m sure.

I think the amount of meat you eat is really about how much exercize you do and how much your body needs protein in general (I’m small and thin and a student, I probably need less than a big guy working in a farm right?)

complete my bachelors degree

God that was HARD!! Especially the last year, I run out of money so had to work MUCH more hours and took my last year in two years. But I don’t regret going through this, was realy worth it.

go bungee jumping

it Was at a block party and cost me only 10 euros. I was sure I would be too afraid and would renounce at the last minute. But knowing so I decided to go first and when I was on top I just listen to the guide’s advice and didn’t think of anything else.

I did it a second time, tied with a friend, weirdly I was more afraid second time than I was first time. But I still did it and it was actually more fun than first time :)

eat healthier

I just started to cook instead of buying pre-made junk, worked for me!

I also don’t eat as much meat as I used to do and don’t dring sodas much anymore, but that was more because I didn’t feel like having it anymore, no pressure lol
