overall, very good experience. i feel like i need to write things down before i forget them and lose it, but i also don’t even know how to start to describe some of the things i felt to anyone other than myself. spent some time with nature, spent some time listening to some music. spent an unfortunately large amount of time around people that just felt… bad. would have liked to have spent a lot more time getting lost in the wilderness that we were in, but instead set out on a trek in search of orange juice and/or water because we were parched. if i can manage to put the experience itself into words then i’ll post it here

build a new bike
hells yes 1 month ago

my dad just bought me another bike for my birthday. a Falcon/Merckx, Molteni orange, Weinmann centerpull brakes, shimano derailleur and crank set. it’s actually a “junior” edition, so it’s a really small frame, but it’s actually perfect for me because i’m quite small myself. it definitely needs some work. it’s got quite a bit of rust and you can tell that it really hasn’t been maintained very well. so i’m probably going to pull it completely apart and rework everything. right now i’m looking at replacing at the very least the tires, tubes, and the chain. possibly more depending on how things work out when i get everything apart. pictures when i get them =]

Reading material 1 month ago
I’ve been reading every day for the past month or two. And buying a LOT of books. I’ve found some really good stuff at Goodwill. We also have a Goodwill Bookstore here, which I found some awesome deals at. Just in the last two months I’ve gotten through all of these:
  • We the Living by Ayn Rand
  • Anthem by Ayn Rand
  • Dry. by Augusten Burroughs
  • The His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman
  • War of Art by Steven Pressfield
  • and three out of the seven books of the Chronicles of Narnia
  • I’m in the process of reading Wasted. by Marya Hornbacher(I saw her speak once on campus and she is really an amazing person)
I have a lot more waiting that I want to get to though.
  • A Wrinkle in Time – Madeleine L’Engle
  • Running With Scissors(because i loved Dry.)- Augusten Burroughs
  • The Virtue of Selfishness- Ayn Rand
  • The Kite Runner- Hosseini
  • something Wicked This Way Comes – Ray Bradbury
  • The Motorcycle Diaries – Che Guevara
  • The Sound and The Fury – William Faulkner

Let me know if you have any other recommendations for me! =]
