I got 22 pages since last Monday. I meant to post yesterday, but my internet was all messed up from the last storm and I couldn’t get online. Im getting close enough to the end that Im getting hyper haha. I love writing the last fourth of a book, where you get to tie everything up.

also got an interesting email yesterday. I’d entered the summer fiction contest in my sunday paper and the editor emailed me, said he’d been trying to call with good news! I’ve put a call in to him this morning, got voice mail, awaiting his return call. I fool with this thing every year…they give you the opening part (150 words), you supply the next 700 words and you have to use five words somewhere in the text. the five words were falafel, brouhaha, evacuate, roadblock and paintball.

I didn’t even know what falafel was, had to look it up.

these are a great way to get publishing credits. i made my first sales to True Story and True Romance Magazines. these stories are written in first person and they pay 5-8 cents per word. one thing, your name won’t appear anywhere as the author. But I found the editors extremely nice to work with and they paid promptly. we got to the point where I could send a list of ideas and they’d tell me what they were interested in before I wrote the stories.
