How I did it: I modified my massage therapy resume to focus on my new career goal: a job as an esthetician. I highlighted my new training, seminars, conferences, etc. The resume is saved as a .pdf document making it easy to e-mail to prospective employers. Now I need to get working on a cover letter that I can adapt to the various positions available. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I began my beauty school experience in April 2008.Esthetics programs in Texas are 750 hrs or 20 weeks (37.5 hours/wk). It was like I time traveled back to high school and was ostracized from the "cool" clique. Being the odd man out made learning difficult since most of the time we learned procedures by working on each other. I spent a lot of time sitting around, net surfing, waiting to get a client on the books. Bored to tears and fr… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw an introductory offer for four private lessons at an Arthur Murray's studio. I learned all the basics (swing, cha cha, rumba, tango, foxtrot, waltz) in about a month and could easily follow a partner with a strong lead. For years thereafter, I would learn advanced variatio… Read how I did it…

I finally met with Michael Norris, the Southside Tattoo artist. I looked through his portfolio two years ago and feel his work and aesthetic sensibility works well with my ideas. To my surprise, I cannot schedule with him until January 2, 2010, noon…and that’s not to do the tattoo but to just to schedule an appointment to do the tattoo. He’s booked through the end of the year and schedules himself on one day for the next three months. And he tells me that we won’t be able to finish in one sitting, that I’ll have to come in again on March 2, 2010, to schedule the second sitting. Ayah! Well, this at least assures me that he is truly fantastic and in demand. My eye for talent is good.
I went to the Documentary Film Lovers meetup. We saw “Handmade Nation” and crafts fair at the Alamo-South. So inspiring! I overspent, but I had to have Jenny Hart’s new book “Embroidery Effects”, the “Harold and Maude” paper dolls, and a baby bib with a Bambi applique (cut out from a vintage fabric).
