This may be more inspirational than The Biggest Loser. The time that I was successful with Weight Watchers, I did a lot of work on self-acceptance. Perhaps it is time to do the work again.

How I did it: I modified my massage therapy resume to focus on my new career goal: a job as an esthetician. I highlighted my new training, seminars, conferences, etc. The resume is saved as a .pdf document making it easy to e-mail to prospective employers. Now I need to get working on a cover letter that I can adapt to the various positions available. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I began my beauty school experience in April 2008.Esthetics programs in Texas are 750 hrs or 20 weeks (37.5 hours/wk). It was like I time traveled back to high school and was ostracized from the "cool" clique. Being the odd man out made learning difficult since most of the time we learned procedures by working on each other. I spent a lot of time sitting around, net surfing, waiting to get a client on the books. Bored to tears and fr… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw an introductory offer for four private lessons at an Arthur Murray's studio. I learned all the basics (swing, cha cha, rumba, tango, foxtrot, waltz) in about a month and could easily follow a partner with a strong lead. Most dance studios offer a combination of private and group lessons as well as practice sessions where you can dance with other students. For years thereafter, I would learn advanced variatio… Read how I did it…

I noticed a new Weight Watchers location at the shopping center where I take my Landmark Education seminars. Seeing my weight continue to go in the wrong direction, I marched myself down there and signed up. I’ve been on Weight Watchers many times before. Once I actually achieved my goal weight (2001).
I have tried doing the program online, but I think the meetings are an important key to success.
It’s been just a few days, and I don’t feel like I’m “dieting”. It’s more a matter of journaling everything you eat. We’ll see if this is true on Thursday. WEIGH IN!
My therapist has asked me to watch The Biggest Loser. I generally loathe the idea of this program, the competition between fatties to see who can survive the horrendous workouts and food deprivation to lose the most weight. She thinks, however, that there are morsels of truth I need to learn and people on the show to whom I will relate. The “no excuses” theme being one of the key elements.
I’ve watched the first two episodes. It’s pretty much the same show, except now they show people puking from exertion. What a great dramatic effect! I still don’t understand how no one gets a heart attack in week 1. Whatever happened to slowly building up strength and endurance as being the healthy way to exercise? What message are they trying to send?
In the end, I can relate to one of the competitors: the old lady that wants to sit down and rest during workout sessions.
