I did a lot of volunteer work...

... for the first six months of this year. Whilst I was out of work I needed something to help occupy my time, so I volunteered as a pricer/shop assistant in an Oxfam bookshop, and also as a software developer in a local hospice. The work is immensely rewarding, and you get to meet some very interesting people.
Oh, and due to my volunteer work, the local hospice decided to take me on full time. Which was nice.

I went for the first time this year, and it was quality. The only advice I can give is take some big wellies and lots of clean socks.
