I’m considering volunteering at the local park’s greenhouse on Friday mornings as a way to get a taste for horticulture and see if it is something I’d like to pursue more seriously.

How I did it: I've had this goal on my list for a while and it seemed like one of the easier ones to knock out. On May 1st, I set a deadline of June 1st to get it done. (And I'm trying to set time deadlines for one goal at a time going forward. Makes it more manageable.) I'd stop swimming laps after 35 minutes and spend my last 10 minutes working on the turns. I started first just relearning how to do summersaults in the pool --NOT at the wall, but in … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Did this in college and it was such a success I did it again. Guests are asked to bring a poetry "piece" which should be the lyrics from a pop song. The more stupid the lyrics the better. Each "poet" reads their selection as though it is the most serious piece of poetry ever composed. It's pretty hilarious. I gave iTunes gift cards to the best ones (as voted by other party guests) and played the real songs after the slam part of the party… Read how I did it…
How I did it: My lower back was becoming progressively more and more sore and more and more weak. I was 37 years old and some days moved around like I was 80. Getting out of bed after an active day before might take up to 10 minutes. I had sharp pains sometimes reaching for things and had less and less flexibility in my back. I thought maybe this was par for the course from playing soccer all these years or from my scoliosis. But finally I didn't accep… Read how I did it…

I subscribed to the WSJ for over a year off and on and only got around to reading it about 10 times. But I saved all the newspapers because I’m a tiny bit of a hoarder and because I hate the idea of not getting that knowledge in my head and “wasting” them. I really like reading it, but it takes me about an hour per edition, and I never get around to it. This month I’m going to read through all the 100+ WSJ’s stacked in my closet and recycle them. I will be a lot smarter at the end of this month, and I’ll also use this as a way to spend less time online.
I’ve made a lot of progress. My dogs had torn up half my backyard, and on the area they decimated I built a raised garden bed and put down pine straw. Pine straw is AWESOME for a yard with dogs. I highly recommend it. I put the pine straw along the path they’d worn from my back porch to the back gate. I’ve cleaned up some flower beds and put mulch in them, and planted some lovely white hydrangeas.
But what I still need to do is prune back/out the weedy bushes and things growing on the sides of my back yard property. And get rid of a pile of broken bricks in one corner.
