control my emotions
Emotions.. 2 years ago

are powerful. theyre possibly the only thinkg in our lives that noone else can touch on and , noone else can change, they are truly our own. Why control them? Living prophylactically is…not good. graze your knees, get your heart broken , let ur emotions run wild. instinct is sound, go with it guys!!! xxx

realise something important, whatever that may be and act on it to improve mine, and other peoples lives
....how to save a life... 2 years ago

It is important, sometimes for everybody to sit down for a second, step back from the world around them and really wonder what it is that they stand for and what it is that really matters. It’s come to my attention that not only have people become totally enthralled in what other people think of them but, now what’s even worse is that people generally only seem to want to achieve what they think other people want from them. This weekend I spent more time than normal stepping outside of “the box”, standing on the outside and really looking in- but I mean, really looking in. In light of recent events I’ve realised that I’ve really got to start appreciating everything that I have and, I wish that more people could because, I’m a relatively dim person, nothing really thrills me but…now, I’m thankful for realising the simple pleasures that have made this week so much better than last J I will write them down here in the hope that someone, anyone (and if even one person would do this, it would make me very happy) would actually read it and, take it in. I’m not Ghandi or someone else of infinite wisdom (although I don’t really think Ghandi is particularly wise) but, I think too much and read up on too many peoples different assumptions so, I don’t know… I like to think I’m quite open-minded. Spare 5 minutes, have a read you never know how much difference 5 minutes can make to your life.

People need to, more often, step outside of themselves and look in at what they’re really doing. It’s my strong belief that by breaking down the assumptions and processes behind writing and speaking, we can go beyond them and find new ways of thinking about the world. There is more than we see everyday, so much more and it’s so so easy to appreciate it, really it is. It is not the case that truth is what is proved and false is what is disproved, its not about what is in front of us, it’s about what we believe in. It doesn’t take strength to stand up and do what someone else wants you to, it’s strength that people every day walk around, fighting for what they believe in with or without the support of anyone. You are the strongest person you can be if you speak up for yourself, you’re not alone. So what if people disagree?

Your views are the single most valuable thing you have; they’re yours and absolutely nobody else’s, no-one can change them but you and you should hold on to that tremendous piece of power! I certainly do. “To exist in pure duration is to be a self, and to be a self is to be able to say “I am”” So, do it. Wake up every morning saying it if you have to. Wake up and say “I am, and you aren’t going to fucking stop me!”

Appreciate the world around you!! In the past week I think I have sat by more lakes and watched more sunsets than ever before. Stare into the distance for no apparent reason; you never know what you might find there.

Appreciate your friends!! Please, however much you think you have none, you do… you really do. I don’t even know how long I’ve spent sad and upset because I think I have no-one but, cha know what? I do, I really do. This weekend I’ve really realised it. You know who you are. It’s just, turning up drunk on the doorstep of my girlfriend on Saturday night after being out with Lauren who really made me smile J to be greeted with open arms, a bed. Called my parents, told them I was OK whilst Leanie was insisting on coming and getting me however late it was.. It was (drunkenly and very illy) amazing. Just sitting around the lake with Hannah and Kate with Leanie…just having people…even if they’re not jumping out at you shouting “I’m here” they are…find out who your true friends are and, when you do… hold on to them. As Baz Luhrman so fantastically states in “Wear Sunscreen”- “Understand that friends come and go, but there are a precious few you should hold on….and for those precious few….Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young”

Take off your shoes!! This I can NOT emphasize enough. Take off your god damn shoes and wiggle your toes in the grass…please. I just thought I should make that point. It upsets me, genuinely that I have only just realized the splendour of it! Thankfully, however I realise quite a while ago that Singing and Dancing is the key to happiness (in my life at least) and I try to do so with as much spontaneity and absolute insanity as possible because, if everything were planned and, everyone knew what was going to happen next then, things would be a bit boring.

For this reason I’m beginning to slightly regret my lives worth of interest in History. As much as I totally appreciate that to move forward we must, first understand our past and the mistakes we made however, it is now that I realise, as Han Fei-Zi so wisely stated “Rather than following the ways of the past, one should examine the present and work out how best to deal with it”. And….WOW!!! That’s it. That’s why we’re all so wound up in the world. Yesterday’s toast burning MUST be related to today’ paper going wet in the rain! No, no its not. Yesterday you left the toaster on too long and, today it rained and, you know what? Rain is beautiful and, if more time was spent watching the “pretty circles” that rain makes on the water, if more time was spent realising that “if you look out for long enough as it rains, and you watch the ripples in a bit of a daze, it looks like the water is flowing in two different directions” … that it, people…can you see?

It’s not about what we know; it’s not about that, it’s about what we can’t see!! It’s about what we perceive and, want to believe in…it’s not about right and wrong, true and false. It’s about fucking delusions!!! It’s about seeing fucking flows. It’s about believing that there’s more, there’s more you can do, more you can see.

There’s more there turn left at the next stop light and…see where you end up, you never know J
