Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Believe in myself (read all 4 entries…)

Perhaps the most important goal of all! This is very important to me as I am starting college at the end of the month. I find I put myself down alot and this really makes me angry because there are so many confident people out there and I want to be one of them. This goal will take a long time for everybody.

clean my room (read all 3 entries…)

I really cannot throw away stuff! It’s so hard….too many memories attached to things :( But I need to clear lots of space!

get into the college I want

I’ll know in 3 days :( scary

visit a psychic

I’m going to see a psychic next month for my friends birthday.I’m really excited I hope she’s accurate :)

Be a better friend

This one’s tough! I’m doin my best with it, but what can you do when your friends aren’t being good friends? I’m giving up on friends for the moment, who needs em? :)

Dress better

I’m considering deleting this goal, it’s a bit too superficial for me…I want goals that are going to change my life, make me a better person, I don’t think this is one of those!

live abroad

Nobody seems tounderstand why I want to live abroad!I’ve always wanted to experience a different culture, make new friends, see new things,be independant but everyone thinks I should stay here. When I go to college I’m going to do a J1 and go to America for the summer, even if I have to go alone I just have to do it,I’ll regret it if I don’t! If I like it,who knows, maybe I’ll move. It’s something to look forward to anyway!

Study more (read all 5 entries…)

This will be my last year in school and the exams at the end of the year will determine whether or not I get into college so I’m gonna have to study hard!! I’m gonna do supervised study after school and try to study at home on the weekends. On top of this I’ll have loads of homework so it’ll be hard. One year of hard work will hopefully pay off! :D

get to bed earlier
I need to start now!!

School for me starts in 4 days! All summer,my average time for going to sleep was about 2a.m…..during school I usually go to bed at around 10 p.m as I feel I need alot of sleep to function properly the next day.In the run up to school,I’ll try to go to bed at about 10-11pm…hopefully I’ve given myself enough time to adjust to my new routine! I doubt it though, but it’s better late than never I suppose!!!
