I love films! Of all kinds – cheesy, tearjerkers, war, action (except for horror, which I’ve never been crazy about). Primarily I’m a romcom girl, cliched I know but I’ve always held the opinion a film can be so bad that it’s good.
However at the moment I’ve seen quite a limited range so what I’d like to do is use IMDb’s top 250 and try and watch everything on it so that I have a good film grounding, if you see what I mean. Sorry if that sounds pretentious, I don’t mean it to be.
I’ve been looking over the list and I’ve only seen about 17%! Some of these films are amazing: Shawshank Redemption (best ending ever) and the Green Mile are certainly up there in my top ten, possibly even top five, though Green Mile makes me cry like a little girl. Once Upon A Time In The West was long but certainly worth watching, and the music was brilliant. I watched the Usual Suspects a little while ago, it was good (and Kevin Spacey is an AMAZING actor) but not really my thing, I wouldn’t watch it again. I loved Amelie but haven’t seen it in ages, I need to see it again soon.
What else? I loved Slumdog Millionaire, that almost goes without saying. I cried at the end of that, too (I’m a sucker for crying at the end of films, TV programmes and occasionally even books)... Hotel Rwanda was brilliant but difficult to watch, but so well done… The Sixth Sense is my favourite scary movie ever, Shaun of the Dead notwithstanding… Big Lebowski is hilarious, definitely worth watching, and Trainspotting has one of the most wonderful endings I’ve ever seen in a film.
I am ashamed to say I’ve seen most of the Disney on there but Toy Story has got to be my favourite. I’m not sure how The Curious Case of Benjamin Button got on there, I didn’t think it was that good tbh. Magnolia was long but brilliant, one of the few films I’ve ever liked Tom Cruise in (the other being Jerry Maguire, possibly my favourite film ever, and I can mildly tolerate him in Minority Report).
That’s a boring summary on some the films I have seen on this list. More coming soon. Hopefully.
