The main thing I can say about wanting to make more friends is to make sure that the friends you make are worth having. Real friends who will be there for you all the time are worth cultivating, but people who are mere acquaintances take up more time than they are worth. I have way too many acquaintances who expect me to spend time with them too often.

reading more has to come within a set of priorities for me. i could actually read all day long every day and be completely happy… except that i’d be broke and lonely since my boss would have fired me and my friends would all desert me. i think my goal needs to be changed to reading more things that are important, like a newspaper once in a while, or a book that will change how i see the world. reading ridiculous things will only make me ridiculous.
Catching up with old friends is always worth it. If playing on a swingset is the way to do it, then so be it. It’s always good to let the little kid in myself out.
