Sterotypically,
teenagers, such as myself, are considered to young to be in love, or know what love is.
“Don’t worry about that, think about exams”,
“It’s just a phase, you’re young, you think he’s more special than he really is”
One time, my mum even rolled her eyes, and said “Hormones”
But why?
Why do older people think we’re blind to love?
Alright, I’m 14, and I love a boy.
I’m not stupid though, I know I love him, I’ve spent every night and day for almost two years telling myself over and over “i love him, i love him, i love him”
Never once have i doubted it, or thought it any less than pure love.
Now, tell me, if a 35 year old woman came to you and said “i’m in love” What would you think?
“Awhh how sweet, i’m happy she’s found someone special to settle down with. I’m sure he’s a lovely man.”
Now, What if this happened again, a 14 year old girl, said to you “i’m in love”
What would you think?
Maybe… “She’ll be talking about another boy within a week. He’s probably a trouble-maker anyway. She’s just caught up in the excitement, i expect.”
Just think about it.
