Walk in the woods near my home
Walking for well-being 10 months ago

Mind: Meditating while on walks allows us to free our minds. This time can be effectively used to think, or simply stimulate our minds and can allow for peaceful reflection. Walking releases endorphins in the brain. The pleasure-inducing hormones can easily turn our stressed out negative attitude into a calm, relaxed and positive one.

Spirit: Because walking is an essentially personal experience, when walking alone we have the ability to truly feel ourselves. We are in tune with our body and and in tune with our mind – we are conscious of our body’s physical actions.

The positive attitude we gain will affect aspects of our life that we would have never imagined. When we feel good about yourselves and have a positive outlook on life, we dramatically increase the probability of having positive outcomes from our life experiences.

promote the flying geese principle
Teamwork 10 months ago

Why geese fly in V formation.

As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an up-lift for the bird immediately following. By flying in this way, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People sharing a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they travel on the thrust of one another.

If a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.

There is strength, power and safety in numbers when traveling in the same direction as others with whom we share a common goal.

When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.

It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other’s skills, capabilities, and unique arrangements of gifts, talents, and resources.

The geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Those who exercise leadership need to be remembered with our active support and praise.

Finally, if a goose gets sick, wounded or shot, two geese fall out of formation and follow him down to help and protect him. They stay until he is either able to fly or until he is dead. Then they launch out on their own or join with another formation to catch up with their group
