Forgot to add in my last entry: I’ve been reading up on the global fisheries crisis. If you recieve National Geographic, there was a really good article on it a couple months ago—please read!
I’ve begun boycotting certain kinds of seafood from my diet to stand agaist the overfishing.
If you do a quick search, it’s easy to find pocket guides for fish to avoid. Quick overview: Atlantic cod (often in fish and chips!) and halibut is in pretty bad shape, along with imported shrimp: avoid it. The best fish to eat? Alaskan Salmon, because the fisheries are well managed, and certified sustainable.
So: I have no time. Now this goes along with my #2 goal, managing my time. I love volunteering, I just have to figure out where it’s going to fit in my schedule. I have study halls last year to mentor, but I’ve got full classes now.
Any suggestions on small activities I may be able to participate in? Random acts of kindness?
