Spend less time fooling around on the net and more time actually working
Spookiness. 3 years ago

I was literally thinking this as I clicked on to 43things for the millionth time today and saw this goal front and center on the main page. It must be a sign!

I spend far too much of my time in the office browsing the net instead of working! It must come to an end!

...Eventually.

move out of New York City
Burning the Candle at Both Ends. 3 years ago

I have a fantastic job that pays enough that in any other city, I could have my own two bedroom apartment in a nice part of town. Here, though? I rent a room in a one bedroom apartment while the owner (a very nice guy) sleeps in the living room. It’s a beautiful apartment, but I rent just the room, that’s all. I pay 1100 a month for this room (furnished - also has a tv, cable, no internet), because the deposits on the apartments in this city are outrageous! First, last, and security? Three times the rent to move in? I don’t make enough money between transportation, health insurance, food, rent, phone, etc. to live like a normal human being. I can’t afford anything but a walk in the park or a movie every couple of weeks! I work too many hours to try and hold down another job, and that would just be inhumane and cruel punishment to my already overworked self.

I always wanted to live in the city. The truth is: I’d be happier vacationing here every few months.

I’m moving to Maine! 9 hour bus ride whenever I desperately need to be in the city, but lots of open space and cheap-living on a daily basis. Ocean, forests, blue sky… no construction at 12:00a! (Does anyone live around 196th and Broadway? I can’t be the only person who hasn’t slept in two weeks because of all that construction going on at all hours of the night!)

Maybe it’s exhaustion, but I’m just not built for this!
