I had to do this a lot of times. It is pretty traumatizing. I’m resistant to caffeine for the most part, and I’m a natural hypersomniac. So I want to sleep so badly, but I can’t. I have to work. My performance starts going to hell after 20 hours, I become a zombie after 30. They do allow little times to rest, but I know if I fall asleep I won’t wake up in at least 10 hours. After having to do that regularly for several months, I couldln’t take it anymore. I got a severe relapse in depression I suffered from when I was a teenager and everything went downhill from there.
But hey, maybe as a one time challenge it would be interesting. Just don’t make it a lifestyle thing: Don’t go to med school.
