After work yesterday I FINALLY got some “alone” time to play with just my daughter. Her big brother tends to take charge when they play together and I would like her to have more opportunity to lead in play. So she chose the straws and connectors and wanted to make a bridge. We worked on it for an hour or so, me guiding her towards figuring out supports and angles on her own.
The bridge turned into a “castle”, which I pointed out looked a lot like my university. I showed her a picture of SFU and explained that it was a “Quadrangle” and we called it “the Quad”. She renamed her castle the “mendrangle” and told me that “it’s where we’ll put dead men to remember them. Because if you’re going to battle bad guys you really should have a place to put the bodies.” She’s such a sweet little girl.
The second best part of my day was when I was telling hubby how awful my day was, that everything I did today I screwed up (mostly at work kind of stuff). Daughter walked over and said “Not true, you made the best castle ever” and gave me a hug.
