if you can afford it, Iceland (Reykjavik in particular) is an expensive place, GO! i would even suggest taking one of the many guided tours inland or to the south coast. visiting one the the glaciers is a must, they’re growing smaller every year.
almost everyone speaks English and are very friendly. if you drink beer, have a Viking! be warned, hot showers smell like eggs due to the geothermal heating systems.

i underestimated how cold this would be, but its totally worth it. i’m a guy, so this isn’t exactly a huge leap – but its still something to shave all your hair off completely.
its a strange sensation having a razor run across your scalp (you can literally hear the hair being sheared off). i switched to an electric razor after this, and it really cuts down on the time to shave your entire head.

i drove cross-country in 4.5 days, via I-80, which was far too fast. if you have the time, i suggest taking two weeks to make the trip. you could plan destinations, but its the quirky, random stops that you remember the most.
