living alone has made my bingeing come back. it’s still not as bad as it used to be, but so far it’s been once a week and a lot, a lot of food. sometimes i will just be bored, or anxious about different things. it’s harder when there is no one to be accountable to.

how do i make sure my nights are binge free??

Mini-Binges 4 months ago

It has been over a week since a really huge binge, which feels like a lot. Unfortunately, I have been mini-bingeing, or overeating, at almost every dinner, and sometimes during a snack later on. However it’s not as bad as 3000+ calories at night, as it’s around 600 calories… I’ve moved from five granola bars to one… six bowls of cereal to two…
Things that have helped are:
- Eating every 2-4 hours, so that I never end up famished and eating everything in sight
- Going out in the evenings, even if it’s just for a few hours (the urge to eat fades, or at least lessens a bit!)
- Having a yummy gingersnap hard candy to suck on after a meal (i used to chew gum, but artificial sweenteners can actually make you binge-eat)
- Knowing that my family is there for me during this time
- Speaking more honestly and openly about how I feel
- Exercising to reduce stress and anxiety (leads to bingeing)
- Not being so hard on myself (if I have had too much dessert, I decide it was a nice treat instead of letting it lead to a full-on binge)
- Visiting the website www.webiteback.com (inspiring stuff!)
- Fact: If you are craving something sweet, you are probably lacking protein. If you are craving something salty, you are probably dehydrated. Eat/drink your cravings and they may go away!
- Questioning myself: Am I hungry enough to eat an apple? Usually I am not, meaning I am not physically hungry but actually full and am bored/lonely/stressed/anxious or whatever…

Anyways, I thought it would be good to post something to remind myself I am making improvements, albeit small. I hate mini-binges, because they cause weight gain while I am trying to recover… Hopefully it will all balance out soon!

i’m so frustrated… any new idea to beat the urge works only once or twice, and then i binge again
