My dad is willing to train me to be a Dental Assistant. He says he prefers ones trained by dentists rather than schools because school-trained assistants always have to unlearn bad habits. I don’t actually know what he means by that, other than the obvious.
I prefer being trained to going to school, because I think it depersonalizes (wow, big word!) the experience. Folks who learned their trade through apprenticeship with a skilled teacher are usually better than those who went to school learning from someone who wasn’t good enough to actually earn a living with their trade. For proof, see “Those who can’t do, teach!” No offense to teachers, including my mom!

How I did it: My dad's a dentist, but otherwise, you just make an appointment, go to the appointment, sit in the chair, let them put the stuff on you, sit there for an hour, then walk away. I didn't have any sensitivity, but they warned me that I might, so I guess it's a possibility. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I live nearby, so we go at least once or twice a year. We most recently went there to see "The Phantom of the Opera" at the Orpheum Theater. We used to only go there to fly. SFO was always so hectic! You know, until they started all that security stuff. Now it's pretty much just boring. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well, last year it snowed in my town. It NEVER snows here. Anyway, I scraped snow off of the picnic table in my backyard and made a snowman. Three snowballs, small, medium, and large. The cliche thing is carrot nose and coal for eyes and buttons, but you don't have to do that. In my case, we have gravel in the yard, so I used those for eyes and buttons, a baby carrot for the nose (he was small because there wasn't very much snow), and som… Read how I did it…

I watched an episode of ‘The Closer’ with Kyra Sedgwick on TNT (new favorite!). I knew the answer before they did! I don’t know if that counts, but it’s fun for me. Normally I’m confused until the end credits on those detective shows.
If this does count, then I don’t know what I did. I have been watching ‘Leverage’ and ‘Burn Notice’ (love that basic cable stuff) – maybe some of their skills have been rubbing off on me?
This is even less likely than my goofy goal of wanting to work for Seth MacFarlane. I mean, seriously! I won’t see her for AT LEAST another 7 months. We have NOTHING in common. I love her, don’t get me wrong. But searching in SF (the city? Anyone?) for 6 hours and then giving up really will do a number on your patience. My mom is almost distraught with my ‘unwillingness’ to write my sister while she’s out of state. But seriously – who is unwilling to communicate with whom here? The sister who ran away, leaving no note? or the sister that’s been desperately trying to keep the first sister from dying? I begged her to talk to me, and I bared my soul to her several times, and what did I get? Either BS or nothing. That gets old quick. And she’s still not being honest with the counselors at the ‘place’. She’s not being honest with my parents, either. Why would I want to talk to a liar? I know she’s safe, I know she’s being taken care of, and I know she’s not with that loser boyfriend. I’m good for now.
It’s just so hard, because I love her… But I’m so angry.
But I love her.
